Brest to pay tribute to Éric Roy in Ligue 1 clash with PSG
The Stade Brestois 29 will honor the memory of former coach Éric Roy during their Ligue 1 encounter against Paris Saint-Germain on the fourth matchday.
The Breton club announced that the tribute will take place on 13 September 2026 at Francis-Le Blé Stadium, three months after Roy’s passing on 17 June.
In an official statement, the club expressed its wish « for the tribute to be worthy of the mark Éric Roy left on the club’s history and the affection he inspired in his family, friends, staff, and the entire Brest community ».
Initially, Stade Brestois had planned to hold the tribute during earlier home matches. However, logistical constraints prevented the club from organizing the event as desired. The Quimper stand, for instance, remains closed due to sanctions related to « excessive use of pyrotechnics » during a previous fixture against Toulouse FC.
« We wanted to gather our supporters in the best possible conditions, » said a club spokesperson. « The arrival of PSG provides the perfect opportunity to honor Éric Roy’s legacy in a way that reflects the deep respect and admiration the club holds for him. »
