Romuald Wadagni has officially assumed office as President of Benin following a solemn ceremony in Cotonou.

The handover took place at the Palais de la République (La Marina), where outgoing President Patrice Talon and incoming President Romuald Wadagni held a private meeting before the swearing-in.

Wadagni took the constitutional oath before the Constitutional Court in the presence of key political figures and representatives from over a dozen foreign delegations.

In his oath, the new President vowed to uphold and defend the Constitution, acknowledging the legal consequences of any breach of that commitment.
