Bénin: Romuald Wadagni inaugurated as president as Patrice Talon exits office
Romuald Wadagni has officially been sworn in as the new President of Benin in a ceremony held this past Sunday. The transition marks the end of President Patrice Talon’s mandate after years of leadership.
Romuald Wadagni has officially assumed office as President of Benin following a solemn ceremony in Cotonou.
The handover took place at the Palais de la République (La Marina), where outgoing President Patrice Talon and incoming President Romuald Wadagni held a private meeting before the swearing-in.
Wadagni took the constitutional oath before the Constitutional Court in the presence of key political figures and representatives from over a dozen foreign delegations.
In his oath, the new President vowed to uphold and defend the Constitution, acknowledging the legal consequences of any breach of that commitment.
