The arrest of political figure Ndiaga Seck, currently facing charges related to alleged acts against nature, continues to stir public debate. On Monday, he was formally indicted by the investigating judge of the First Chamber in Louga before being remanded in custody.

Amid rising speculation online, some social media users and outlets have attempted to connect this case to Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. This attempt has been strongly condemned by Babacar Ba, president of the Forum des Justiciables.

An unacceptable attack on institutional integrity

In a statement, Babacar Ba denounced what he described as a deliberate smear campaign targeting the head of government. Ousmane Sonko, as Prime Minister, represents the state’s highest executive authority, he emphasized.

« It is entirely unacceptable to tarnish the reputation of a serving Prime Minister or to undermine public trust in the government’s leadership, » Babacar Ba declared. He stressed that Ndiaga Seck’s legal troubles over alleged misconduct cannot and should not be exploited to damage Ousmane Sonko’s image or political standing.

The Forum des Justiciables leader warned that such tactics not only violate the principles of a rule of law but also threaten the very foundations of democratic governance. He called for an end to these manipulative practices, insisting that justice must remain impartial and free from politically motivated interference.
