Following the opening of the second ordinary session of the 2026 legislative year, Secretary-General André Noël Essian presided over the installation ceremony for more than 20 senior officials appointed by President Théodore Datouo.
These high-ranking executives were promoted within the services of the questorship and the general secretariat of the National Assembly. With this ceremony, they officially assume their roles within the country’s legislative body.
Since his election in March as President of the National Assembly, Deputy Théodore Datouo has made a series of appointments. However, these decisions have not been universally welcomed by the public. Critics accuse the successor to Cavaye Yeguié Djibril of failing to respect regional balance in his choices.
