With 13 goals and 10 assists for Leipzig, Yan Diomandé is one of the players to watch on the transfer market, which remains very quiet due to the World Cup. The 19-year-old forward is currently in North America for the tournament and is set to face Norway in the round of 32 this Tuesday at 7 PM French time. In the meantime, clubs are formulating their strategies.

Yan Diomandé edges closer to PSG

On PSG’s side, the stance is clear. The reigning two-time European champions are ready to act if Yan Diomandé gives them priority. That appears to be the case, as the winger believes in the project developed by Luis Campos and wants to play under Luis Enrique, hoping to follow in the footsteps of Ousmane Dembélé by winning many trophies, including the Ballon d’Or. The Parisian club is looking for one or two attacking players and has its eye on the Ivorian, as does Liverpool, which has already opened dialogue with Leipzig, who are asking for €130 million. Clearly, PSG has taken the lead.

‘I have loved PSG since I was a child’

So far, Yan Diomandé, under contract until 2030, has kept his future uncertain. ‘I don’t know (what choice I’ll make). I’m not thinking about my future after the World Cup,’ he said after Côte d’Ivoire qualified for the round of 32. ‘I’m trying to focus all my energy on the World Cup and see what happens afterwards, but I can’t say anything about that.’ Before the tournament, the Ivorian sent a message to PSG that did not go unnoticed: ‘I have loved PSG since I was a child. I think my father was a PSG fan. But I’m not looking ahead to the future, I remain focused on the World Cup. We’ll see what happens later.’
