Paris Saint-Germain appears poised to finalise the signing of Yan Diomandé from RB Leipzig sooner than anticipated. The Ivorian winger, who has been in outstanding form at the World Cup, reportedly rejected advances from Liverpool to opt for the Ligue 1 giants. Liverpool had submitted two bids exceeding €100 million, but Diomandé’s preference has tilted the balance firmly in PSG’s favour.

PSG confident of swift agreement for Diomandé

Sources close to the negotiations indicate that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is leveraging his strong relationship with RB Leipzig supervisory board chairman Oliver Mintzlaff to accelerate talks. The club expects to wrap up the deal rapidly, with Diomandé potentially becoming the first summer arrival in Paris — even ahead of Maghnes Akliouche, whose transfer discussions were initially considered more advanced. An official announcement could come within days.

Will Diomandé be PSG’s first summer signing?

For now, Diomandé remains focused on the World Cup, where Côte d’Ivoire is preparing for a Round of 16 clash against Norway. Once the tournament concludes, he could fulfil a childhood dream by joining PSG. “My future? I have a team taking care of that. I try to stay as focused as possible. I have loved PSG since I was a child. I think my father was a PSG supporter. But I am not projecting myself into the future; I stay focused on the World Cup. We will see what happens afterwards,” he said on the sidelines of a friendly between France and the Elephants before the tournament.
