Waly Diouf Bodian, a political leader within Pastef, has responded forcefully to recent remarks made by Professor Mary Teuw Niang concerning verbal violence and mutual respect in public discourse. The politician accuses the former higher education minister of inconsistency, pointing to earlier attacks directed at Pastef’s leader, Ousmane Sonko.
Bodian outright rejects the academic’s appeals for calm and questions his institutional stance. “After calling President Ousmane Sonko an impostor, Mary Teuw Niang now comes to lecture us on verbal violence and respect for others. It’s too late, Professor,” Bodian declared. Continuing his criticism, he added: “Your literary nonsense on Sundays no longer works with us patriots. We do not respect those who do not respect Ousmane Sonko.” He concluded by accusing Niang of abandoning the nation’s core values to align with those in power.
