UK and Morocco strengthen strategic partnership with ambitious trade goals
Bilateral discussions in Rabat aim to double commercial exchanges within five to seven years
During his official visit to Rabat, UK Minister of State for International Trade Chris Bryant reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening strategic collaboration with Morocco. The meetings with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita marked a significant step toward enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.
The UK views Morocco as a land of immense economic potential and has set an ambitious target: doubling current trade volumes, which stand at approximately £4.5 billion, over the next five to seven years. This commitment was clearly articulated by Minister Bryant, who emphasized the importance of this strategic partnership for both countries.
Beyond trade, the discussions also focused on collaborating on major sporting events, including preparations for the 2030 World Cup. Accompanied by a delegation of over 50 companies specializing in sports event management, Minister Bryant participated in the Morocco-UK Business Forum held on June 2 and 3, 2026.
The two nations also announced plans to convene the fourth session of the Morocco-UK Association Council in the near future, further solidifying their growing partnership.
