Chad UN development cooperation cycle 2024 concludes with new 2027-2030 roadmap
The Tchad-United Nations Joint Steering Committee for the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2024-2026 concluded its final session in N’Djamena on May 22, marking both a strategic assessment and the launch of preparatory discussions for the 2027-2030 cycle.
Co-chaired by Tahir Hamid Nguilin, Minister of State for Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, the meeting brought together senior government officials, UN agency representatives, technical and financial partners, civil society leaders, and private sector stakeholders.
Key outcomes of the 2024-2026 cycle and transition to 2027-2030
During the session, Tahir Hamid Nguilin emphasized the depth and importance of Chad’s partnership with the UN system. He highlighted how the government’s National Development Plan “Tchad Connexion 2030” aligns with these efforts, aiming to build a more resilient, inclusive, and prosperous Chad. Priorities include strengthening human capital, climate adaptation, good governance, youth employment, and women’s empowerment.
He stated, “This steering committee meeting demonstrates our shared commitment to maintaining strong alignment between UN interventions and Chad’s national priorities. By finalizing the 2026 work plans and laying the groundwork for 2027-2030, we reaffirm our dedication to inclusive growth that leaves no one behind.”
François Batalingaya, UN Resident Coordinator in Chad, echoed this sentiment, noting, “As we close this cycle, we are already looking ahead. The new UNSDCF 2027-2030 will embody renewed ambition to meet financing needs and address the aspirations of the Chadian people.”
Strategic discussions focus on financing, social inclusion, and resilience
The deliberations focused on lessons learned from the current cycle and key strategic priorities for 2027-2030, including development financing, social inclusion, and resilience. Participants agreed the next cooperation framework must be fully aligned with the PND “Tchad Connexion 2030” to ensure continuity and impact.
Discussions also addressed the need for innovative financing models, stronger public-private partnerships, and enhanced coordination among development actors to maximize the effectiveness of future interventions.
