The President of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, conveyed profound grief following the death of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, which occurred this Thursday, July 9, 2026.

In a heartfelt post on Facebook, he honored the religious leader’s legacy and extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the General Khalife of the Mourides, and the entire Senegalese people.

« I was deeply moved and saddened to learn of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, » wrote Ousmane Sonko.

The National Assembly President also reflected on his personal encounters with the late spiritual guide during visits to Guinguinéo.

« I had the honor of meeting the revered religious leader on multiple occasions during my trips to Guinguinéo. Each meeting was marked by his exceptional warmth, hospitality, and kindness, leaving a lasting impression on us, » he shared.

During this « sorrowful moment, » Ousmane Sonko offered his « most sincere condolences » to the late leader’s family, the General Khalife of the Mourides, the religious community of Guinguinéo, and the entire nation of Senegal.

« May Allah, in His boundless mercy, grant him forgiveness and welcome him into His eternal paradise, » he concluded.
