The 25-year-old spent the 2022-23 season at Olympique de Marseille, where he gained firsthand knowledge of French football’s physical and tactical demands. Despite an underwhelming stint in Marseille, his strong performances in England convinced Rennes scouts of his potential.
Now back at Manchester City, Kaboré is not part of Pep Guardiola’s long-term plans. With a contract running until June 2027 and a market value estimated at €4 million by Transfermarkt, the Burkinabè defender offered an attractive price-to-quality ratio. However, Rennes ultimately chose Reynolds, forcing the club to reassess its backup options.
Troyes emerges as unexpected destination for Kaboré
With Rennes no longer in the picture, Kaboré is set to attract interest from multiple clubs. Manchester City is open to either a permanent transfer or another loan deal to offload the player.
Recent reports suggest an unlikely but promising opportunity may arise in France. ESTAC Troyes has reportedly expressed interest in signing the former Marseille player. This move could provide Kaboré with a fresh start and a chance to secure regular playing time for the 2026-27 season.
