PSG have officially confirmed their first summer transfer, sending Goncalo Ramos to AC Milan. This move forces the Parisian club to search for a new centre-forward. Reports now link PSG with Folarin Balogun.
PSG looking at Balogun?
Goncalo Ramos has indeed joined AC Milan. PSG announced the deal in a statement: “After three seasons at Paris Saint-Germain and no fewer than 12 trophies, including two consecutive Champions League titles, Goncalo Ramos moves to AC Milan on a permanent transfer.” The Portuguese striker signed with the Italian club until 2031, leaving a gap PSG must fill through a new signing.
PSG eye Balogun as replacement
PSG are reportedly exploring a somewhat surprising option: Folarin Balogun. The AS Monaco forward finished last season as the club’s top scorer with 19 goals in 43 appearances. The 24-year-old US international is also impressing at the World Cup hosted by his home country. Luis Campos and his recruitment team are said to admire Balogun’s profile, especially his solid Ligue 1 experience from spells at Reims and Monaco.
Monaco open to selling?
So far, PSG have not made any concrete approach, but if they do, AS Monaco would likely not block a sale. The club faces financial difficulties after failing to qualify for the Champions League. Balogun is one of three players Monaco has put on the market, alongside Lamine Camara and Maghnes Akliouche — the latter also a PSG target. The Parisians could potentially sign two players from Monaco, though Tottenham and Chelsea are also in the race for Balogun.
