psg champions league final: no champs-elysees parade planned if they win

On Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain will face Arsenal in the Champions League final in Budapest. Thousands of PSG fans will gather in the Parc des Princes fan zone and across Parisian bars to watch the match. Should the Parisians lift the trophy, their victory parade will not wind through the Champs-Élysées the following day.

The night of May 30th promises heavy crowds in the French capital, with 150,000 to 200,000 people expected to take to the streets for football, tennis or music events. This influx has forced the Paris Police Prefecture to implement an extensive security plan across the city. The weekend is set to test the resources of internal security forces.

From Friday evening at 5 PM, vehicular traffic will be banned until Sunday morning. The security perimeter established by the Paris Police Prefecture spans much of the 8th arrondissement, with parking restrictions extending across the Champs-Élysées and key avenues like Montaigne. These restrictions also affect parts of the 16th and 17th arrondissements. Pedestrian access will remain open.

Around Parc des Princes, where PSG’s official fan zone will be set up, authorities will enforce a standard matchday security setup. Last year’s enclosed and secure fan zone proved highly successful during the Champions League final.

Champ de Mars emerges as potential victory celebration venue

As they did the previous season, authorities are preparing for all possible outcomes during security briefings. Should PSG triumph on Saturday, Sunday’s celebrations are already being coordinated with the club. Unlike last year’s Champs-Élysées parade, which attracted 110,000 fans, this option has been ruled out for 2026. The 8th arrondissement’s mayor confirmed this decision late Sunday evening.

A new location is now under consideration. According to insiders, the Champ de Mars in the 7th arrondissement is the leading candidate. The Paris Police Prefecture is seeking to ban vehicle and parking access around the site from Saturday, May 30 at 10 PM through Sunday, May 31 at 8 PM to ensure “the smooth running of a festive event.” If this plan proceeds, PSG players could celebrate with a backdrop of the Eiffel Tower—an iconic image that would boost both France’s and the club’s international profile.

The club has acknowledged full mobilization for preparations on match day but stated that no decision has been made regarding post-match celebrations. “Should celebrations be organized, all logistical arrangements will be coordinated with the relevant authorities,” a PSG spokesperson confirmed.
