N’Djamena is preparing to host the 2026 Music Festival under the theme « music as a tool for social cohesion », an initiative designed to foster unity and dialogue through inclusive cultural events.
Tourism, Culture and Crafts Minister Abakar Rozzi Téguil launched the celebrations at the Hilton roundabout, bringing together officials, artists, cultural promoters and citizens eager to showcase Chad’s rich musical heritage.
Music as a bridge between communities
The festival’s guiding theme reflects a broader national priority: strengthening social cohesion through the arts. Speaking at the launch, the Minister emphasized how music can transcend differences and bring people together, aligning with President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno’s vision of unity as a cornerstone of public policy.
« This year’s edition is built on inclusion and accessibility. Music speaks to everyone, everywhere. It is a universal language that promotes peace, dialogue and shared values—especially in a world facing growing challenges, » he stated.
A nationwide movement
To ensure the festival reaches all corners of Chad, a series of decentralized performances will take place across the ten districts of N’Djamena and in multiple provinces. The goal is clear: bring music out of concert halls and into public squares, neighborhoods and rural areas, making it a force for connection.
« Music belongs to the people. It should flourish in markets, on streets, in villages—wherever citizens gather. This is how we build solidarity and national pride, » the Minister added.
Celebrating talent and boosting the creative economy
The event will feature performances and cultural activities designed to spotlight local artists while highlighting the economic potential of Chad’s creative industries. Organizers see the festival as both a celebration of culture and a strategic step toward youth empowerment and national development.
