Mustapha Ngouana says Cameroon is on autopilot, promises repeatedly broken

For Mustapha Ngouana, Cameroon has become accustomed to broken promises and unfulfilled commitments.

Mustapha Ngouana believes Cameroon has grown used to broken promises and unmet commitments.

During the “Droit de réponse” debate program, Mustapha Ngouana highlighted a recurring pattern of unfulfilled pledges in Cameroon.

“The President of the Republic of Cameroon has repeatedly made decisions whose deadlines were never respected. Let’s take a few examples. For the Africa Cup of Nations, the president said it would take place on the announced date, but it did not. The president had 50 years to prepare the 50th anniversary of reunification; it was supposed to be celebrated in 2011, but it actually happened in 2014,” Ngouana said during the show.

The debate revolved around the theme: “Broken trust: public opinion facing unkept promises.” Ngouana addressed this topic by pointing to “permanent drift” in the head of state’s governance.

“I believe the president is in a state of constant drift in his governance. Our country has come to a standstill. When people speak of poor governance, I think they are being kind; it is actually a lack of governance. Cameroon is on autopilot.”
