The Morocco-India Economic Forum 2026 convened in Rabat on Monday, marking a significant event orchestrated by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (CCISRSK), in collaboration with the Indian Embassy in the Kingdom and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

This high-profile gathering brought together a substantial Indian delegation, comprising 21 prominent business leaders from key strategic sectors, alongside various Moroccan economic stakeholders. The primary objective was to delve into opportunities for establishing enduring partnerships and fostering mutually beneficial investments between the two nations.

Fostering strong economic ties

During the forum, Hassan Sakhi, President of the CCISRSK, emphasized the profound and enduring friendship between Morocco and India, noting its evolution into a robust, diversified, and continuously expanding economic partnership.

In a statement delivered on his behalf, Sakhi highlighted that numerous high-level ministerial initiatives and strategic memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed between Morocco and India underscore the dynamic nature of their political relationship.

He further pointed out that the presence of an Indian business delegation, representing diverse sectors such as automotive, agriculture, information technology, healthcare, and energy, clearly demonstrates the increasing interest Indian enterprises are showing in the Moroccan market.

The vitality of bilateral exchanges is particularly evident in the growing volume of economic trade between the two countries. Sakhi stressed Morocco’s keen desire to further amplify this momentum, recognizing India as a crucial trade partner endowed with extensive technological and industrial expertise.

Morocco’s potential as a regional hub

Mohan Puri, who led the CII delegation, articulated his belief that both countries possess the capacity to forge a powerful partnership that could unite India, Morocco, and the wider African continent. He specifically lauded the Kingdom’s substantial potential and capabilities.

Puri expressed appreciation for the myriad opportunities Morocco presents, particularly in the burgeoning fields of renewable energies, green hydrogen, aviation, defense, and digital technologies. He remarked that Morocco offers an ideal platform for companies from both nations to implement a range of projects and advance technological development.

The forum’s agenda featured an institutional video showcasing the economic strengths and investment prospects within the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. Attendees also viewed a documentary detailing Morocco’s business climate and the latest updates to its investment charter.

A significant outcome of the event was the signing of a memorandum of understanding, designed to bolster commercial exchanges, investments, and industrial partnerships specifically between India and the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region.

The forum concluded with a productive networking session and a series of B2B meetings, facilitating direct interactions between members of both delegations.
