N’Djamena, 4 June 2026 – The Groupement des Écoles Militaires Interarmées (GEMIA) celebrated a milestone today with the induction of its sixth cohort of Enfants de Troupe, alongside an awards ceremony recognizing academic and leadership excellence. The event drew top military and civilian leaders, including General Hisseine Abderamane Haggar and Yangmmargue Beh Félix, the second chief of staff of the armed forces.
The ceremony unfolded under a sky laden with symbolic meaning, as distinguished guests—generals, officers, defense attachés from allied nations, N’Djamena’s mayor, the sultan of the first arrondissement, parents of students, and alumni—gathered to witness the transformation of 76 young recruits.
The recruits, who entered the program on 6 October 2025, endured a rigorous initiation period designed to instill camaraderie, discipline, and resilience. « Today marks their transition from raw recruits to full-fledged Enfants de Troupe, » declared the GEMIA commander, emphasizing the lifelong bonds forged in this demanding environment.
In his address, he reiterated the guiding vision of President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno: « Chad’s future is written in its classrooms. » This principle resonates deeply within the Enfants de Troupe school, where the motto « Learn to build better »—rooted in honor, discipline, and excellence—guides every cadet’s journey.
The event also highlighted the achievements of the year’s top performers, with awards presented to the top student, most exemplary cadets, highest achievers in each cohort, and the standout athlete. The commander praised the winners while urging them to sustain their momentum of success.
Closing the ceremony, the GEMIA commander called on partners and the Association of Former Enfants de Troupe to elevate the school’s reputation as a benchmark institution. He extended warm wishes for the summer break to all staff and students, expressing gratitude to parents for their vital role in shaping the nation’s future leaders.
