Gabon’s Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization, and Innovation and the Federation of Gabonese Enterprises (FEG) have kickstarted an ambitious initiative at the headquarters of the Bank of Central African States in Libreville. Dubbed Kimba Connect 2026, this marks the country’s first national open innovation challenge designed to bridge the gap between businesses facing transformation hurdles and local startups offering tailored digital solutions.
The program operates through an open call for challenges, inviting enterprises to submit their specific needs while startups propose innovative remedies. Selected projects will receive mentorship and support to refine and implement their solutions.
Applications are currently open and will close at midnight on Tuesday, July 14. The initial selection phase is scheduled for July 24, with the grand finale set for August 4, 2026.
Mark Alexandre Doumba, Gabon’s Minister of Digital Economy, emphasized that “innovation holds real value only when it addresses tangible needs.” He highlighted that Kimba Connect 2026 will convert corporate challenges into growth opportunities while providing startups with enhanced market access and visibility.
