I want tomorrow’s FEG to be known not only for defending businesses, but above all for making them succeed.

This was the wish expressed by Alain Claude Kouakoua, president of the Federation of Enterprises of Gabon (FEG), during the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Gabon Economic Forum (GEF) on Saturday 27 June 2026 at the Palais des Congrès in Libreville.

The event brings together decision-makers and international partners as a platform meant to tackle Gabon’s economic challenges. Taking a pragmatic stance, the FEG president stated that no country has developed without strong companies. For him, the enterprise is not a peripheral actor; it is the engine of growth.

On his part, Vice President of the Republic Hugues Alexandre Barro Chambrier underscored the government’s support for the private sector. “The state will do its part to ensure the cleanup of public finances allows for timely payment of what is owed to private companies.

His speech conveyed a strong ambition: “building a diversified economy, less dependent on raw materials and more oriented toward industrialisation.” This forum thus represents a robust dialogue to advance Gabon’s economic objectives and priorities.
