Lausanne, Switzerland: Fifa president Gianni Infantino has sent a letter of congratulations to the Argentine football team after their impressive performance in the World Cup.
The letter, which was made public by the Argentine Football Association (AFA), praises the Albiceleste’s ‘magnificent result’ and expresses Infantino’s admiration for the team’s ‘passion, engagement and love’ for the sport.
Infantino also took the opportunity to wish Claudio Tapia, president of the AFA, ‘the best for future competitions’, sparking speculation about potential rivalries between Fifa and South American football organisations.
The Argentine team’s victory in the World Cup was met with widespread criticism from fans and opponents alike, who accused them of being arrogant and aggressive on the pitch. However, Infantino’s warm words suggest that he may have been impressed by their determination and teamwork.
