The battle for Trevoh Chalobah is intensifying as the defender prepares for a potential move to Serie A this summer. Currently representing England on the global stage, the Chelsea academy product has emerged as a primary target for both the reigning Italian champions Inter and the ambitious Como, who have already submitted a formal opening bid.

Como launches formal bid for Chalobah

Como has officially entered the fray with a concrete offer for the versatile defender. Under the leadership of former Chelsea and Arsenal star Cesc Fàbregas, the club is looking to strengthen its ranks following a historic qualification for the Champions League. Having been part of the Chelsea setup since the age of eight, Chalobah is seen as a vital addition to lead the team’s upcoming European campaign.

While the specific financial details remain undisclosed, Chelsea appears ready to consider offers for the Cobham graduate. Despite being a consistent presence last season with 47 appearances and three Premier League goals, Chalobah could be moved on to facilitate further defensive recruitment. His current contract, which runs until 2028, provides the London club with significant leverage in ongoing negotiations.

Inter Milan monitors the transfer race

Inter, having recently secured the Serie A title, is also closely tracking the center-back as a potential reinforcement for their defensive line. The Nerazzurri are searching for players with proven European pedigree, making Chalobah’s top-flight experience and adaptability highly attractive. A bidding war between the two Italian clubs could result in a substantial windfall for Chelsea.

A move to the San Siro would offer Chalobah the chance to defend a domestic title and compete at the highest level of continental football. This prospect is particularly enticing given that Chelsea will miss out on all European competitions next season following a lackluster 10th-place finish in the league.

Tuchel maintains faith in the defender

Despite his uncertain club future, Chalobah remains highly regarded by England manager Thomas Tuchel. The former Chelsea boss included the defender in his World Cup squad as a late replacement for the injured Tino Livramento. Tuchel’s decision to pick the 26-year-old over veteran Manchester United defender Harry Maguire highlights the esteem in which he is held.

Although his minutes on the pitch have been restricted during the tournament’s early stages—including a 4-2 win over Croatia and a scoreless draw against Ghana—his presence in the squad confirms his status as a high-level competitor. Tuchel has once again opted to leave Maguire out of the selection in favor of the Chelsea man.

Chelsea continues defensive transformation

The potential departure of Chalobah is part of a broader defensive overhaul initiated by new head coach Xabi Alonso. Chelsea is already identifying successors, with Maxence Lacroix of Crystal Palace and Como’s Jacobo Ramon listed as potential targets. The club has already secured a £51 million deal for Atalanta’s Marco Palestra to shore up a backline that struggled throughout the previous campaign.

The search for a new left-back has also gained momentum following Marc Cucurella’s high-profile transfer to Real Madrid. Leeds United’s Gabriel Gudmundsson is currently being monitored as the club seeks better balance. With Chalobah likely on his way out, the high turnover at Stamford Bridge shows no signs of slowing down this summer.
