Burkina Faso is facing a cholera outbreak after health officials confirmed the first case in the country. According to the Ministry of Health, a 25-year-old man from Kantchari in the Tapoa province exhibited severe symptoms including profuse watery diarrhea, uncontrollable vomiting, and dehydration.

Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of Vibrio cholerae O1 Ogawa, triggering immediate public health responses. The patient was promptly isolated and treated, along with close contacts. A second case was reported shortly after on July 5th in the same area, with symptoms appearing rapidly.
