Chad’s Ministry of Trade and Industry has issued an urgent directive to halt the distribution of four yogurt brands after routine inspections uncovered serious health violations in production facilities based in N’Djamena.
The directive, signed by Dr. Guibolo Fanga Mathieu, Minister of Trade and Industry, follows an in-depth quality assessment conducted by the Centre de Contrôle de Qualité des Denrées Alimentaires (CECOQDA) from June 1 to June 5, 2026. Inspectors found unacceptable microbiological and physicochemical characteristics in sampled products, alongside critical lapses in hygiene, storage, and food safety standards.
Four manufacturers are directly impacted: Tami Yaourt, Yaourt Alkhiza, Lazza Yaourt, and Yaourt Gamar. In response, the Ministry has mandated the immediate removal of all affected yogurt batches from the market and suspended their sale until further notice.
These companies have been instructed to fully comply with CECOQDA’s corrective guidelines to bring their products up to national food safety regulations. The government has also pledged to expand these quality checks to include all food production and distribution units across Chad. Consumers are urged to remain cautious and report any suspicious products.
