E-verbalisation : Premiers résultats prometteurs au Burkina Faso

Mahamadou Sana, the Minister of Security, personally assessed the remarkable effectiveness of the new electronic traffic enforcement system, known as e-verbalisation, merely half a day after its official inauguration. The digital initiative, designed to automatically detect violations of the Road Code, became fully operational on August 1, 2026, precisely at midnight. By noon on the same day, the Minister visited the Video Protection Supervision Center to observe the real-time processing of infractions, accompanied by Zakaria Hebie, the Director General of Transmissions and Information Technology.

The Minister extended his commendation to the technical teams for their exemplary professionalism, recognizing their vital contribution to implementing this innovative solution. Within the initial twelve hours of its activation, the system successfully documented an impressive 1,099 traffic violations. These included common offenses such as failing to wear a seatbelt, disregarding traffic lights, exceeding the posted speed limits, and using a mobile phone while driving. Notably, five individuals who committed these infractions had already settled their fines through the FASO ARZEKA platform, showcasing the efficiency of the integrated payment process.

Mahamadou Sana emphasized that these swift and positive outcomes unequivocally demonstrate the system’s operational readiness and underscore the government’s firm commitment to leveraging advanced digital technologies to significantly enhance road safety across Burkina Faso. The Ministry reiterates its message that adherence to the Road Code remains the most effective method for drivers to avoid penalties and ensure safer journeys for everyone.
