AS FAR challenges referee Ndala for CAF Champions League final

The Moroccan club AS FAR has strongly objected to the appointment of referee Jean-Jacques Ndala for the upcoming CAF Champions League final against Mamelodi Sundowns, scheduled for May 17 in Pretoria, South Africa.

With the match just two weeks away, tensions are escalating as AS FAR questions the selection of the Congolese official, known for his controversial decisions during the chaotic 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between Morocco and Senegal. The club has urgently raised its concerns with the CAF, citing past decisions that sparked outrage.

AS FAR demands immediate referee replacement

The Rabat-based team has highlighted multiple instances where Ndala’s officiating raised eyebrows, including the failure to halt the match after Senegalese players walked off the field on January 18 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. Additionally, the club expressed confusion over Ndala’s continued involvement at the highest level despite being sidelined by FIFA for the 2026 World Cup due to his role in the controversial 2025 AFCON final.

AS FAR is now calling for Ndala’s immediate removal from the prestigious final, emphasizing the need for impartial and fair officiating in such a high-stakes encounter.
