The Union Saint-Gilloise’s promising Israeli winger, Anan Khalaili, has sealed a five-year deal with Premier League side Crystal Palace, the London club announced over the weekend. The transfer fee is reported to be €24.5 million, with potential add-ons pushing the total even higher.
After a failed medical at Inter Milan last winter, Khalaili has now found a new home at Selhurst Park. The 21-year-old attacker joined Union Saint-Gilloise from Maccabi Haifa in the summer of 2024 and quickly established himself as a first-team regular on the right flank.
From benchwarmer to champion
Khalaili’s rise at the Brussels-based club has been remarkable. He played a key role in ending the Union Saint-Gilloise’s 90-year title drought during the 2024-25 season, delivering the championship-winning goal against Club Bruges. The following campaign saw him add the Belgian Cup to his collection, further cementing his reputation as one of Belgian football’s most exciting young talents.
European impact and international recognition
The Israeli international has already made 16 appearances for his country and leaves Brussels with an impressive goal tally of eight in just under 100 appearances. His Champions League debut last season was particularly memorable, with Khalaili netting three times—twice against Marseille and once against Atalanta. He also featured in the Super Cup victory over Club Bruges and played both legs in the third qualifying round against Bodø/Glimt.
Though he missed the opening league fixture against Westerlo due to squad rotation, Khalaili’s contributions have been vital in Union Saint-Gilloise’s recent European adventures and domestic triumphs.
