Egyptian referee Amin Mohamed has been chosen to officiate the high-stakes World Cup match between Argentina and Austria.

Amin Mohamed, an Egyptian referee, has been selected by FIFA to officiate the World Cup second-round match between Argentina and Austria, kicking off at 5:00 PM local time on June 22, 2026, at the Dallas stadium in Arlington. He will be supported by his compatriots Mahmoud Abouelregal and Ahmed Hossam Taja as assistant referees. Spaniards Alejandro Hernández and Diego Sánchez will serve as the fourth official and reserve assistant referee, respectively.

Amin Mohamed has already demonstrated his capabilities during the World Cup, officiating the match between South Korea and the Czech Republic with a flawless performance, earning him the trust of FIFA officials. This track record has now positioned him to handle a pivotal second-round encounter.

Amin Mohamed began his refereeing career in Egypt’s top division in 2013 before making his international debut in 2018 during a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Uganda and Lesotho. Since then, he has officiated numerous continental competitions, including the CAF Champions League, a CAF Nations Cup 2023 semifinal, and two matches in the CAF Nations Cup 2025.
