The Alliance du Sursaut Patriotique has publicly accused the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSMA) of providing logistical backing to the Russian mercenary faction Wagner Group during the recent Am-Dafock battle.
Accusations of covert collaboration
The coalition claims that MINUSMA’s alleged assistance enabled Wagner operatives to secure strategic advantages over allied government forces in the region. According to their statement, this support included supply routes, intelligence sharing, and operational facilitation, which they argue compromised the integrity of the UN mission’s stated neutrality.
Government forces regain control
Despite the controversy, the Central African government forces, backed by allied factions, successfully reclaimed Am-Dafock from rebel factions. The operation highlighted the escalating tensions between state forces and armed groups, as well as the controversial role of external actors in the conflict.
Call for accountability
The Alliance du Sursaut Patriotique has demanded a transparent investigation into MINUSMA’s alleged involvement, urging international bodies to hold the mission accountable for any breach of its mandate. The group warns that such actions could undermine regional stability and calls for an immediate reassessment of foreign military engagements in the Central African Republic.
