Algeria and Chad formalized a new agreement in N’Djamena this Thursday, establishing mechanisms to streamline public works and infrastructure cooperation. This strategic move aims to deepen the partnership between the nations and expedite the implementation of prior accords reached in April.
The signing ceremony took place during a coordination meeting in N’Djamena, marking the second day of the Algerian delegation’s working visit to Chad. Algerian Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, and his Chadian counterpart, Amir Idriss Kourda, Minister of Infrastructure, Disenclavement, and Road Maintenance, affixed their signatures to the document.
High-ranking officials from both countries attended the significant gathering. Representing Algeria were the Director-General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, and senior executives from the Cosider group and the National Public Works Company (SNTP). The Chadian side saw the participation of the Minister Delegate for Infrastructure and several other key senior officials.
During the discussions, the Chadian Minister highlighted the “rapid dynamic” observed in the execution of bilateral agreements. He commended the tangible progress achieved since the initial accords were inked on April 22 in Algiers, specifically citing successful mutual technical visits and the initiation of feasibility studies for the crucial Trans-Saharan Road project within Chadian territory.
