Archbishop Andrew Nkea Fuanya has been promoted by Pope Léon XIV. The prelate was named a member of the Section for the First Evangelisation and New Particular Churches of the Dicastery for Evangelisation. His role will involve assisting the Holy See in the development of young churches and guiding global missions.
This appointment has been praised by Akere Muna, a Cameroonian civil society figure. According to the lawyer, this nomination is not only a deep recognition of his pastoral wisdom, tireless service, and unwavering dedication to the Church, but also a powerful testimony to the light he continues to bring to Cameroon, Africa, and the universal Church.
“I am convinced that in this new mission, he will continue to serve with the same courage, clarity, and paternal compassion that have marked his ministry over the years,” the lawyer wrote. Archbishop Andrew Nkea was appointed metropolitan archbishop of Bamenda in 2019. Elected president of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon on 30 April 2022, he is a leading figure in the dialogue for peace in crisis-hit regions.
