N’Djamena takes bold step forward with AMGT strategic plans
The launch workshop for validating the Municipal Agency for Major Works’ (AMGT) strategic documents took place in N’Djamena, marking a pivotal moment for urban development and effective governance in Chad’s capital.
Leading the charge at the workshop was N’Djamena’s Mayor, Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye, who emphasized the critical role of the newly established Municipal Agency for Major Works (AMGT) in shaping the capital’s future. He highlighted how the agency was designed to tackle Chad’s most pressing urban challenges—rapid population growth, crumbling infrastructure, sanitation gaps, and climate resilience—while fostering transparent, results-driven governance.
The AMGT, he explained, was conceived as the backbone of N’Djamena’s development strategy, empowering the city to plan, fund, and execute large-scale projects aligned with citizen needs. Its mandate extends beyond construction, embedding sustainability, social inclusion, and environmental stewardship into every initiative.
Key documents under review
The workshop focused on validating three foundational documents that will guide the AMGT’s operations:
- Administrative, financial, and accounting management manual: A blueprint for resource allocation and performance tracking, ensuring every franc is spent with maximum impact.
- Monitoring and evaluation framework: A system to measure progress, hold teams accountable, and continuously refine strategies for better outcomes.
- Environmental, social, and gender management framework: A commitment to sustainable development, ensuring projects respect ecological balance, gender equity, and community well-being.
Collaboration drives progress
The Mayor urged participants—municipal leaders, technical experts, and development partners—to contribute their insights, sharing lessons learned and proposing improvements. “The strength of these documents lies in your collective expertise,” he noted. “Your recommendations will shape an AMGT that is agile, transparent, and capable of meeting N’Djamena’s evolving needs.”
Success, he stressed, hinges not just on the quality of the plans but on the integrity of their implementation. Rigorous governance, clear processes, and unwavering transparency will determine the agency’s ability to deliver tangible results for Chad’s capital.
