Kétou makes uniforms mandatory for all taxi-moto drivers

Zémidjan taxi moto Commune d'Abomey Calavi

In Kétou, motorcycle taxi drivers will soon be required to wear a uniform. The local government is launching a registration campaign to implement the reform, which is intended to improve safety, simplify driver identification, and bring better organisation to urban transport.

The registration drive will run from 6 to 20 July 2026 at the administrative secretariats of the town’s six districts. Drivers must bring a valid ID to register. This step is essential to receive the official uniform.

After this period, only drivers who are properly registered and wearing the uniform will be allowed to carry passengers. The municipal authorities warn that any driver failing to comply will face penalties under existing regulations.

The local government also calls on passengers to support the reform by choosing officially identified drivers. District chiefs, motorcycle taxi associations, and security services have been tasked with ensuring that the new rule is enforced.
