A special envoy from Banjul delivers a letter to King Mohammed VI, highlighting the robust state of bilateral relations between the two African nations

Diplomatic relations between Morocco and Gambia reached a new milestone of cooperation in Rabat. Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Foreign Minister, welcomed Sering Modou Njie, Gambia’s Foreign Minister, who arrived in the capital as a special envoy of President Adama Barrow.

The primary focus of the visit was the handover of a letter from Barrow addressed directly to King Mohammed VI. This gesture underscores the close communication between the two heads of state.

Following the meeting, the Gambian diplomat addressed the media to convey his government’s and people’s gratitude to the Moroccan monarch. Njie praised Morocco’s unwavering support for Gambia’s socioeconomic development, noting that this commitment has translated into tangible results through multiple bilateral agreements and strategic projects already benefiting the population. These joint initiatives are meticulously coordinated under the strategic guidance of Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad.

In his remarks, the Gambian minister emphasized his country’s determination to further strengthen cooperation across sectors of mutual interest. He affirmed that current relations are not only strong but rooted in shared values of brotherhood, solidarity, and mutual benefit, reflecting the forward-looking vision shared by Mohammed VI and President Adama Barrow for the prosperity of both nations. This bilateral roadmap for partnership and regional growth aligns with Gambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad diplomatic priorities.
