After presenting his credentials to Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed in November 2025, Gabon’s newly appointed Ambassador to Tunisia, Pierre Ntsiet Ngolo, has outlined his strategic diplomatic roadmap. With over two decades of experience in international relations, the Ambassador has pledged unwavering commitment to strengthening ties between Libreville and Tunis, while ensuring the welfare of Gabonese nationals residing in Tunisia.

Since assuming his post, Ambassador Ntsiet Ngolo has prioritized fostering unity within the Gabonese diaspora in Tunisia. Through structured dialogue and collaborative initiatives, two key representative bodies have been established: the Gabonese Community Council in Tunisia (CGT), which unites approximately 1,000 Gabonese residents—including students, professionals, and families—around shared humanitarian values; and the Association of Gabonese Students and Interns in Tunisia (AESGT), dedicated to supporting the academic and professional aspirations of young Gabonese in the country.

Gabonese community gathering in Tunisia

The Ambassador highlighted the success of the first Gabon Cultural Days, held in April 2026, as a testament to the growing cohesion and solidarity within the community. «The event underscored our shared values of unity and mutual support, proving that our compatriots in Tunisia are more connected than ever,» he noted.

Consolidating bilateral cooperation

A key focus of the Ambassador’s agenda is deepening academic and healthcare partnerships between Gabon and Tunisia. With a significant number of Gabonese students and interns pursuing education in Tunisia, the Ambassador has emphasized the need for streamlined administrative processes, particularly regarding residence permits and tuition payments, to alleviate the challenges faced by these young individuals.

«Families and the National Scholarship Agency must act swiftly to address these administrative hurdles, ensuring our students can focus on their studies without unnecessary burdens,» he urged. Additionally, the Ambassador pointed to the existing healthcare cooperation between Gabon’s National Health Insurance Fund (CNAMGS) and Tunisian medical providers, recognizing Tunisia’s advanced healthcare infrastructure as a valuable asset for Gabonese citizens.

The Ambassador also underscored the importance of economic diplomacy, advocating for expanded trade and investment opportunities. «Our goal is to strengthen institutional dialogue and explore new avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation, leveraging the unique expertise and resources of both nations,» he stated. Recent economic missions by Tunisian operators have been welcomed as a positive step toward future partnerships.

Strengthening consular support

Since taking office, Ambassador Ntsiet Ngolo has made consular assistance a cornerstone of his mission, introducing measures to better serve Gabonese residents in Tunisia. «The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing relief at finally feeling supported,» he shared. His efforts have not only reinforced diplomatic relations but also fostered a renewed sense of belonging among Gabonese nationals abroad.
