The National Superior Police School in Porto-Novo recently hosted the official launch of crucial preparatory training courses on Wednesday, May 14, 2026. These advanced programs are designed to equip participants with the Brevet d’études supérieures de sécurité (Bess), the Diplôme d’état-major des forces de sécurité (Demes), and the Diplôme spécial d’état-major des forces de sécurité.

This formal commencement signifies a pivotal moment in bolstering the capabilities of Bénin’s internal security forces. The event, held under the distinguished patronage of Inspector General of Police 2nd Class Kokou Brice Allowanou, who serves as the Director General of the Republican Police, brought together a diverse assembly of notable figures. Attendees included military and political-administrative authorities, senior Republican Police officials, and esteemed academics.

He emphasized their role in preparing trainees for assuming significant leadership roles within the security sector. Commissioner Yekpe underscored the critical need for participants to cultivate a forward-looking perspective on national, sub-regional, and international security challenges.

“For this session, the National Superior Police School has assembled a team of highly qualified instructors, experienced national and international experts, and a dedicated pedagogical support system committed to your success. The curriculum will notably cover areas such as police strategy, human and operational resource management, command principles, and internal and cross-border security issues,” he stated, highlighting the comprehensive nature of the curriculum.

Inspector General of Police Kokou Brice Allowanou reiterated the high standards associated with these continuous professional development programs and the expectations placed upon these future senior security executives. “These training courses offer a valuable opportunity to enhance your professional competencies, cultivate your leadership acumen, and prepare you for the elevated responsibilities that await you tomorrow,” he affirmed. He further urged the trainees to approach the demanding curriculum with unwavering rigor, discipline, and dedication.

The ceremony concluded with an insightful inaugural conference. The Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at the University of Parakou led discussions on the pertinent theme: “Rule of Law, Republican Police, and Security Challenges.”

Through the initiation of these advanced training programs, the National Superior Police School aims to further professionalize the Republican Police and contribute significantly to the development of a security elite capable of effectively addressing contemporary challenges. This strategic initiative also reflects the Béninese authorities’ commitment to progressively modernize the nation’s core sovereign institutions.
