Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno affirmed his unwavering resolve against the Islamist militant group, declaring on May 5th via Facebook: « We will continue the struggle with renewed determination, until the total eradication of this threat ». This resolute statement came in response to a brutal assault launched just one day prior by an affiliate of Boko Haram. The attack targeted the Barka Tolorom military base, located on the Chadian side of Lake Chad, tragically claiming the lives of 24 soldiers.
