Ouagadougou hosts fourth edition of Mousso d’Or, honoring women shaping Burkina Faso’s future
The fourth edition of the Mousso d’Or gala unfolded on June 6, 2026, in Ouagadougou, spotlighting Burkinabè women whose leadership, innovation, and dedication are propelling the nation forward. This year’s ceremony celebrated excellence across multiple sectors, recognizing individuals and organizations that embody the spirit of progress and resilience.
Salmata Sawadogo named Mousso d’Or 2026 laureate
The evening culminated in a historic moment when Salmata Sawadogo, founder and CEO of Salmata Commerce Général, was crowned Mousso d’Or 2026. The prestigious award honors her entrepreneurial vision and her relentless efforts to empower women economically, fostering independence and opportunity.
In her acceptance speech, Sawadogo expressed deep gratitude to the organizers and supporters who have been instrumental in her journey. She emphasized that this recognition is not just a personal milestone but a call to action for all women to embrace their potential, break barriers, and pursue their ambitions with confidence.
Spotlight on category winners and champions of change
The event also celebrated trailblazers in seven specialized categories:
- Talato Ouédraogo – crowned in the ‘Golden Nugget’ category, celebrating her outstanding contributions to innovation.
- Wend Guetta Association – honored in the ‘Association’ category for its impactful community initiatives.
- Charlotte Milliogo (USFA) – recognized in ‘Sports’ for her achievements in athletics.
- Mam Sank – awarded in the ‘Culinary Arts’ category for her culinary excellence.
