Chad security crackdown nets 29 suspects in N’Djamena
The Chadian National Police have unveiled 29 individuals arrested during recent operations in N’Djamena, linked to serious crimes including arms trafficking and aggravated robbery.
N’Djamena witnessed a sweeping security operation last month as authorities dismantled a network of suspected criminals operating across the capital.
On June 2, the National Police Command announced the arrest of 29 individuals detained between May 15 and June 1 following coordinated raids. According to police leadership, the crackdown involved multiple units: the Intelligence Cell, Public Security Commissariats, Central Directorate for Intelligence and Investigations, and the Ngueli border police post.
Crimes uncovered and suspects identified
The suspects face charges spanning a range of serious offenses. Key allegations include:
- Firearms trafficking and conspiracy
- Criminal association and organized gang activity
- Aggravated robbery and armed robbery
- Vehicle break-ins and thefts
- Illegal entry of foreign nationals
Case categorization and legal proceedings
After processing through standard interrogation procedures, the arrested individuals were classified into four distinct groups based on the charges against them. The breakdown includes:
- Those linked to criminal associations and armed robbery
- Suspects caught in the act of motorcycle theft with accomplices
- Individuals charged with stealing electronics, gold, textiles, and construction materials
- Pickpockets and vehicle burglars, several of whom were caught red-handed
All suspects have been formally charged and are now awaiting judicial review.
