Cameroon’s President Paul Biya has issued a decree appointing new members to the Supreme Judicial Council, the body overseeing the judiciary’s independence and professional standards.

Out of fourteen positions, ten members had their mandates extended for another five years despite having completed their terms a year ago. Among the new faces, Goni Mariam, a former alternate member, replaces Ali Mamouda, who is stepping down from his role as a permanent member.
Notable additions include Sali Dahirou, former Minister of Public Service, and two parliamentarians: Soppo Toute Marlyse from Wouri (RDPC) and Rolande Ngo Issi from Nyong and Kellé (Pcrn). The roster also features Albert Ekono Nna, Engelbert Bengono, and Mekoulou, alongside former Vice-President of the Special Criminal Court, Claude Francis Moukouri.
