Government outlines plan to fill 2,305 public sector vacancies

The state of Cameroon has officially initiated a major recruitment campaign for the 2026 fiscal year, targeting a total of 2,305 new positions across various administrative branches. Minister Joseph Le, who oversees Public Service and Administrative Reform, recently formalized the procedures by signing 36 separate decrees that define the entry requirements for these roles.

Standard recruitment pathways account for 890 of these openings. Within this category, 470 spots are designated for direct entry into specialized fields such as telecommunications, public health, agriculture, mining, civil engineering, and financial services. Furthermore, 220 positions are reserved for students at the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM), while another 100 are allocated for the National Institute of Youth and Sports (INJS) and the National Youth and Sports Centers (CENAJES). An additional 100 roles will be filled through specific selection tests.

A significant portion of the 2026 intake stems from special presidential initiatives focusing on the critical sectors of education and healthcare. This includes 1,200 positions, with 1,000 spots dedicated to private candidates at the Higher Teacher Training Colleges (ENS) and the Higher Technical Teacher Training Colleges (ENSET). In the medical field, 200 specialist doctor positions are being opened, supplementing the 920 health personnel roles established earlier in April 2026. Candidates for the teaching positions will have the flexibility to choose their preferred educational institution and regional testing center during the application process.

Beyond these entries, the government has allocated 215 seats for professional advancement through internal competitions. It is worth noting that the total recruitment volume for 2026 shows a slight decline compared to the previous year. The 2,305 available spots represent a decrease of 555 positions from the 2,860 openings offered in 2025.
