The two-day working visit by Madagascar’s President aimed to bolster friendship and cooperation between the nations. During the engagement, President Randrianirina met with his Gabonese counterpart at the Palais Rénovation, where they explored ways to enhance bilateral relations and Madagascar’s ongoing refoundation process.

A key highlight was a presentation by Professor Guy Rossatanga-Rignault on Gabon’s transition journey and the constitutional restoration principles guiding the country. President Oligui Nguema reaffirmed Gabon’s commitment to supporting Madagascar’s institutional rebuilding efforts.

In return, Madagascar’s leadership expressed interest in adopting Gabon’s governance and institutional consolidation strategies. The summit concluded with both leaders praising the robust partnership between Gabon and Madagascar.

Notably, Madagascar’s current leadership took power in October 2025 following mass youth protests against former President Andry Rajoelina. The demonstrations were sparked by severe water and electricity shortages, prompting a rapid political transition.
