Accompanied by a delegation of key officials, including the Minister of State for Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mr. Mourad Adjal, and the Director-General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, Mr. Abed Hallouz, the Prime Minister’s visit highlights the importance placed on fostering mutual growth and sustainable development.
Key achievements and discussions
Upon arrival at N’Djamena International Airport, the Algerian Prime Minister was warmly received by Chad’s Prime Minister and head of government, Mr. Allamaye Halina, alongside senior government officials and dignitaries. This ceremonial welcome set the stage for bilateral talks aimed at reviewing the progress of Algeria-Chad relations and identifying avenues to elevate their strategic partnership.
The discussions focused on reinforcing economic ties, expanding cooperation in renewable energy, and exploring new sectors for collaboration. Both sides reaffirmed their shared vision to strengthen solidarity and mutual support, particularly in infrastructure projects that directly benefit the people of Chad.
Launch of a 40-megawatt solidarity power plant
As part of this landmark visit, the Prime Minister and his Chadian counterpart presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 40-megawatt electricity production plant in N’Djamena’s Farcha industrial zone. The plant, a gift from Algeria to Chad, will be constructed by Sonelgaz International and reflects Algeria’s ongoing dedication to Africa’s sustainable development through impactful, large-scale projects.
This initiative aligns with President Tebboune’s directives to support African nations in their development efforts while promoting African solidarity and cooperation. The project is expected to significantly enhance Chad’s energy infrastructure, contributing to economic and social progress.
Consultations with Chad’s leadership
The Prime Minister also held consultations with Chad’s President, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, to discuss ways to further strengthen the Algeria-Chad partnership. The talks covered regional and continental issues of mutual interest, reinforcing the shared commitment to stability, security, and economic integration in Africa.
